"bark"?[edit]

According to the Finnish Wikipedia page for "kaarna", "kaarna" is cork and cork cambium, which are the two outermost layers of the periderm. The English "bark" consists of the entire periderm, plus the cortex and the phloem, according to the English Wikipedia page.

I don't know anything about botany though, and the Finnish Wikipedia entry has only one citation: (Tirri, R.; Lehtonen, J.; Lemmetyinen, R.; Pihakaski, S. & Portin, P.: Biologian sanakirja. Otava, 1993. →ISBN). Then again, you never do read about starving pre-industrial Finns and Swedes eating kaarna. Wikiuser4815162342 (talk) 16:03, 22 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
