Surigaonon in Cebuano?

@TagaSanPedroAko Um, isn't Surigaonon a separate language from Cebuano? I was surprised when I saw you put it in Cebuano. I know a person who speaks both Surigaonon and Cebuano and she definitely says "balay" for Cebuano, and "bayay" for Surigaonon. --Mar vin kaiser (talk) 13:24, 30 December 2021 (UTC)

@Mar vin kaiser Yes, there's a separate Surigaonon language, but there might be also a Surigaonon Cebuano/Bisaya dialect and accent influenced by the latter. TagaSanPedroAko (talk) 13:27, 30 December 2021 (UTC)

Might be? As far as I know, most people in Surigao area today speak general Cebuano (with no Surigaonon accent that changes a consonant like that). Are you basing this on some research or personal experience? --Mar vin kaiser (talk) 13:29, 30 December 2021 (UTC)

@TagaSanPedroAko: It's because a lot of the Cebuano speakers in Surigao, afaik, are recent immigrants from the Visayas region in the 20th century, but maybe the native Surigaonons speaking Cebuano may exhibit this mixing of an accent, but I think we still need a basis for this. --Mar vin kaiser (talk) 00:28, 31 December 2021 (UTC)
