So is there a singular (deprecated template usage) neph? Equinox 23:44, 6 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Abbreviation of nephrologists. I'm trying to cite neph for nephrologist and so far I can't. It's probably out there somewhere, but so far all I can find is the word nephrologist hyphenated over two lines, which appears in Google Book searches as neph- rologist. There are many hits on Usenet using "nephs" to mean "nephews", and a few using it to mean something kidney-related: search for "nephs and". - -sche (discuss) 22:47, 23 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
The lemma is presumably "neph". - -sche (discuss) 20:53, 24 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
I've moved the entry to neph, still tagged RFV until citations can be found. - -sche (discuss) 06:15, 31 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
I've detagged the sense "nephew" (which I added per my comments, above), on the basis of a spectrum of old [1] [2] and modern [3] [4] [5] citations. - -sche (discuss) 06:20, 31 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
To my surprise, I've cited the "nephrologist" sense now, too. - -sche (discuss) 06:29, 31 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
