Thank you, can it be added in a usage note whether this is a synonym of the much better known term indescribable, and, if not, how the meaning or usage differs? 24.29.228.33 06:49, 3 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I deliberately avoided putting indescribable as a synonym because of that general sort of difference where non- is a rigid, binary sort of negation while un-/in-/etc. are more open to degree modification. ("It was the most indescribable thing I ever saw" is plausible, but "the most nondescribable" is not.) We have some kind of note to this effect at non-, I think.
