Note on creation[edit]

A translation of přívlastek into English seems difficult. The meaning of přívlastek matches the meanining defined for the noun attributive. However, googling shows that the dictionaries translate přívlastek as attribute, which however has no entry in the field of grammar in Wiktionary. I suspect the problems result from an overall mismatch between Czech linguistics and anglo-americal linguistics. Verification pending. --Daniel Polansky 10:22, 19 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

A semantically close term to "přívlastek" is modifier. To decide whether all the various cases of "přívlastek" match all the various cases of modifier is beyond my ability and resources now.
Also, "přívlastek" seems to perfectly match the German "Attribut". The concept of přístavek (apposition) is a subclass of the concept of přívlastek, which corresponds to German, where the concept of Apposition is a subclass of of Attribut. (de:W:Attribut, cs:W:přívlastek.)
Unlike in February 2008, there is now a definition of attribute in grammatical sense. --Dan Polansky 09:33, 19 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
