I really suspect this is just another ideophone along with a dozen others like pump, bomb, pamp(er), and Slavic пуп. Pokorny reconstructs four roots, not one, and that is the same situation we have in Spanish today where bomba and pompa can to some extent trade places. My German isnt good enough to make sense of the text but it might be that he saw it the same way as me and was proposing it was a "psychological" root that didnt evolve normally. —Soap— 03:20, 4 May 2020 (UTC)
