I think the first "example of use" under the noun section is an adjective not an noun. But i'm not a native english speaker an may be wrong

Hi, the definition is trying to say that "perennial" can be used instead of "perennial plant". i.e. A plant that comes up every year is "a perennial". Thanks for pointing out your confusion though, i will try to make it clearer. Yours Conrad.Irwin 11:47, 12 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
