Etymology[edit]

Supposedly this comes from Medieval Latin's praeferentia? 97.80.159.223 06:22, 16 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Verb?[edit]

Judge Loretta Preska: "The law does not mandate ‘work-life balance'. In a company like Bloomberg, which explicitly makes all-out dedication its expectation, making a decision that preferences family over work comes with consequences." [1] Equinox 10:05, 15 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Rfv-sense: A card game.

Not at WP. There might be a children's card game, but searching for "attention is a card game" got one hit, not in this sense. Searching for "Attention" and "card game" gets a lot of irrelevant hits. DCDuring TALK 16:42, 12 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Attention? Anyway, added three cites to citations:preference, one of which is for Preference.—msh210 (talk) 17:31, 12 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
I hadn't noticed my mindfart, which is what started the RfV. Sorry. DCDuring TALK 18:25, 12 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
See also w:préférence and w:preferans.—msh210 (talk) 17:33, 12 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
I should have looked at the translations. преферанс helped me find the WP article. The Russian-associated citations made me look there. We also now have preferans. Cited, IMO. Tag removed. DCDuring TALK 18:22, 12 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
I agree with the outcome, but isn't such a quick closure inconsistent with your objection to the closure on Greenpeace? bd2412 T 20:29, 12 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
Feel free to unstrike. The RfV was due to my faulty search. For some unknown reason, I had been repeatedly searching for the wrong word. DCDuring TALK 20:35, 12 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
No point in unstriking now. The word is cited. bd2412 T 21:14, 12 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
