Wikipedia:Gleipnir[edit]

A "bear's sinew" is one of the components of this rope which is supposed to be made of impossible things. It doesn't seem feasible to think that Norse vikings thought bears lacked muscles and tendons, so would anyone know what meaning this usage had? The talk page suggests the "nerves" usage being a metaphor for sensibility, could that be valid? Etym (talk) 21:12, 9 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Maybe in that case it's just something difficult to get, because what bear is going to let you get his sinews? For what it's worth, bird's spittle isn't impossible either. It's one of the main ingredients of bird's nest soup. —Aɴɢʀ (talk) 21:25, 24 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
