Trask's etymological dictionary (actually his incomplete notes before his untimely death) is available as a PDF here. Sorgin looks like an instance of the common formative -gin (maker, doer) from egin (make, do), with an unknown element sor-. The tempting Latin sortem (lot, fate) does not work phonetically (it should give **zortagin or **zorkin). Hiztegilari (talk) 16:35, 3 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
