Trask's etymological dictionary (actually his incomplete notes before his untimely death) is available as a PDF here. Sorgin looks like an instance of the common formative -gin (“maker, doer”) from egin (“make, do”), with an unknown element sor-. The tempting Latin sortem (“lot, fate”) does not work phonetically (it should give **zortagin or **zorkin). Hiztegilari (talk) 16:35, 3 April 2023 (UTC)
