A dancer. Rap citation: "You remind me of my stepper, 'cause I know you gon' slide." How can we be sure this means "dancer"? Why would someone say "my dancer"? Since this is from rap music, isn't it equally likely to be this Urban Dictionary sense of "stepper": "a person known to carry guns and is always ready to fight, typically known to not fear jail time". Note that "slide" has various senses other than what you might do on a dance floor, e.g. to depart stealthily. Equinox 10:37, 8 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

step doesn't have the sense of "dance" but I think it should, there are songs called "step to the beat" and "stepping to the beat" for example. General Vicinity (talk) 18:05, 8 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

These look good. Should we remove the original 2020 citation, though, since the true meaning is still unproven and uncertain? Equinox 08:51, 9 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I looked into this, trying to see if I could find anything that would make clearer what sense Moneybagg Yo meant: uses on Twitter range from ones that could be referring to someone who does w:Stepping (African-American), like 1, 2, to ones that seem to mean something in the vein of "friend or partner" (one whom you "step" with, or are ride-or-die with?), like 3, 4, 5, 6. Sometimes it means "shoe" (a meaning I just added to our entry). - -sche (discuss) 05:39, 10 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
