Complete Etymology[edit]

From Proto-Tocharian *twe, from Proto-Indo-European *túh₂, via an oblique form *two-. Cognate with Tocharian A tu.

Demonstration[edit]

Tocharian A regularly loses word-final Proto-Tocharian vowels, which triggers an epenthetic rectification of *w and *y into u and i, respectively. So: *twe > *tw > tu.
