Is a direct message a type of tweet? This article doesn't indicate either way.

I would say no--a tweet is anything you enter in the "what are you doing?" box. A direct message is just that--a direct message....

JKJAMBSJ: Consider that a teacher can bark at a pupil, and mother can be accuse of moo-ing about the mess in the bathroom, I wouldn't dismiss that ones children can twitter on the merry-go-round or ones cellphone can tweet itself into a coma. Although the Twitter.com service took clever advantage of it, I think that as a metaphor for a cacophony of squeaking sounds, can one not a tweet a text message through to ones spouse, or twitter about a photograph on Facebook, or tweet 'Knock knock' jokes back and forth on BBM?J-K.J.A.M.B.S-J 05:02, 27 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
