Declension of мамин[edit]

I thought мамин was declined like the following. Is this considered obsolete or something? The declension shown in {{ru-adj9}} is new to me. —Stephen 18:13, 22 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Also, in {{ru-adj8}} (отцов), isn’t the masculine prepositional form об отцове? —Stephen 18:18, 22 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

masculine feminine neuter plural
nominative мамин мамина мамино мамины
genitive мамина маминой мамина маминых
dative мамину маминой мамину маминым
accusative мамин, мамина мамину мамино маминых
instrumental маминым маминой маминым мамиными
prepositional о мамине о маминой о мамином о маминых
об отцове - that's maybe 18th century Russian. Now it's not a valid form. Maybe it has some idiomatic usage, or fashionable "old-style" quotations. Stuff from 1050 like "Моисеа бо и пророци о Христове пришествии поведааху..." has to be translated into Russian, and becomes "Моисей и пророки о Христовом пришествии поведали...".
Re мамин you should actually read usage notes for Template:ru-adj8;). To save you the trouble: yes, it's obsolete but occasionally used in idioms and set phrases. "На манер тришкина кафтана". Although even for this idiom google hits are twice in favour of тришкиного кафтана. And even in old-style form prep. masculine is still мамином! -Panda34 21:40, 22 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
From position of speaker but not specialist. It seems like form m-dat мамину is more spoken-language but possible. Form m-prep о мамине is very spoken-language, maybe too much to be listed. But m-gen is by me even more likely to be produced as мамина. I think those alternatives should be recorded into template. But mb I'm wrong since Яndex gives 3000 for "маминого дома" and only 88 for "мамина дома" (with mostly wrong results). But if we take stable name of classical 1958 multfilm, we'll get 10% of "кошкина дома" (500:5000). The question is mb on a good dissertation, but here is exploration where both forms are shown.
