Help with categories
Hi CodeCat, I was wondering if you could help me by modifying {{derivcatboiler}} (or whatever related template). What I want to know is, is it possible to change it so it correctly handles Mandarin script-specific categories? There are quite a few popping up on WantedCats...would be nice to be able to clean them off. :)
Also, {{topic cat}} is still a bit wrong isn't it? I mean I dunno if it's the desired/most desirable layout but didn't previous discussion suggest the script specific cats being children of the generic Mandarin topic cats of the same names? Another perhaps more important thing though, it flags any of those script topic cats made as needing attention...is that really necessary?
Currently there isn't a way to fix {{derivcatboiler}}. Its parent template {{catboiler}} is so intricate that it's hard to fix one thing without breaking other things. There is a plan to merge several of the templates that use it into one, which has mostly been agreed on, but it is hung up on the old question of WT:BP#Numbers and numerals, again (again). That situation really does need resolving, so please join in, it needs more input! The two codes {{zh-cn}} and {{zh-tw}} were nominated for deletion a long time ago, I'm not sure if they failed, but nothing has been done to replace them either way. It's unfortunate the way Wiktionary works: a decision is made, but nobody carries it out.
