Thracian *aphinos or *ephinos

Hello,

could the Romanian word afin ('blueberry, cowberry') have descended of a Thracian word which would be *aphinos or *ephinos? Is there an Indo-European word whence such a Thracian word could descend of? I found it unlikely that it would descend of the Latin word daphne, because I think that the "d" couldn't be dropped so easily, since in Romanian by dăuna and damna from Latin damnare the "d" also hasn't been dropped. Here you might find something about Romanian phonetic changes.

Greetings

I don't really know much at all about Romanian, so I don't think I can help you with this, sorry.
