Noticed your Amgine support

Really curious; how does someone ignore his misbehaviour. Do you simply not look at it ? not think its true ? or figure his good points outweigh any type of misbehaviour ? I mean, to me, it would be like encouraging a school board to hire a convicted child molester to teach 2nd. graders because you think he's a good teacher and just ignoring the fact of the conviction; so I repeat...how do you do it? Wiktionary:Translations of the Week/Next Week

I appreciate people's input into this project. Thanks for helping out in what I hope could be an important part of the future of Wiktionary. At the moment the way of choosing translation candidates is fine, but as time goes by, there'll inevitably have to be a "process" to get to be a Translation of the Week. Categories

Hi. Lots of nice words you're adding. :) I'm removing the Japanese language category from the Hiragana entries because Hiragana and Romaji pages are just crossreferences to all the words spelled that way. The actual defininition goes on the page with the kanji (if there are kanji). I thought the Japanese language category is for all of the actual Japanese words and the Hiragana and Romaji categories are for those versions of the words. -Millie 21:44, 23 January 2006 (UTC)

Two colons

At User talk:Milliehandshrimp#Japanese templates you said, "{{subst::User:Gmcfoley/janoun|hiragana|romaji|def}}". Did you really mean to have two colons after subst? If so, what do they accomplish (as opposed to using a single colon)? - dcljr 22:15, 30 January 2006 (UTC)

Romaji

 *laugh* I finally checked out #wiktionary on IRC today only to stop here and see you no longer go there so often :) I was going to ask you for your thoughts on Japanese Romaji entries -- I've been doing them and linking Hiragana and Kanji entries to them but another user has been removing the links to the Romaji ... so I'm not sure what to do next. I've restored some of the links; I've approached the user on their talk page. Should I go about questioning various editors of Japanese entries and see what the Romaji consensus is? Half-width Kana

I believe half-width kana has to do with older computer systems which couldn't handle all the characters necessary to represent full Japanese once the diacritic marks were added. (As I understand it) the practice was to treat diacritic marks as individual characters themselves, so 'bu' would have to be two characters, fu, plus the maru. Cruinne 20:06, 15 February 2006 (UTC)

Excuse me sir, but that is sick. There is no reason for a dictionary to have that picture. Do you do everything anonymous IPs tell you? That particular definition needs no picture at all to convey meaning.
