Hi Marianocecowski,

Please do not copy material from copyright sources. Your entry for "patriarch" appears to be from dictionary.com, which is copyright. It has been deleted. — Paul G 09:43, 16 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Hi Mariano,
Sorry if this sounds harsh - I have posted a reply to you on my user page.
Well, I understand the deleting, since I couldn't put it in my own words (which would have been OK). But still feel it was uncoherent from you to type a definition of ethnical identical to the one in thefreedictionary.
BTW, would you make the definition for patriarch?
I think my first par was not a copy:
  1. Male ruler of a family, tribe or either an ethnical or religious group.
  2. Founder of either a political or religious movement, an organization or an enterprise.
well, in any case, I leave it to you.
Moi.
Wiktionary entries have to be written either in your own words, or copied from sources that are free from copyright. The definition of ethnical is as it is because it is hard to define it in any other way. "Ethnical" simply means "of or relating to ethnology", and most other dictionaries probably give much the same definition.
However, in the case of "patriarch", this could be defined in many different ways, but was exactly the same as the definition already published in a copyright work. I will restore your original definition as this is clearly not a copy.
I don't want to discourage you in any way from contributing to Wiktionary - we need all the contributors we can get. Contributions do have to be your own work, though, or taken from copyright-free material. The comment at the bottom of every "edit" Witkionary page makes this clear. — Paul G 10:39, 16 Nov 2004 (UTC)
