Entries in Wiktionary are not Capitalized (unless they are proper nouns. They also need to be properly formatted. Here is our standard welcome. SemperBlotto 08:21, 18 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to Wiktionary. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wiktionarian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk (discussion) and vote pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~, which automatically produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the beer parlour or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome!

PLEASE start your entries with a lowercase letter - you are just making more work for us. SemperBlotto 10:14, 18 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Cease and desist

[edit]

It seems like you must be trying to help WikiMedia by taking Wikipedia articles that should be Transwiki'ed, and instead deleting them (or having them deleted) after copying them here manually in a non-Wiktionary format specifically so that they are removed or deleted here. Why do all your recent entries ignore our layout conventions? By knowingly doing it wrong you have created a lot of extra chores for us.

Please explain you actions. --Connel MacKenzie T C 16:42, 18 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

That is a start. But I (and I'm sure others) would appreciate it if, for future entries, you tried to use the transwiki process instead. --Connel MacKenzie T C 20:14, 18 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
Is there any point at all to the edit you made to whistle Dixie? Everything you entered was redundant and outside of proper headings. Why are you doing this? --Connel MacKenzie T C 21:58, 18 February 2006 (UTC) (edit) 22:13, 18 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Excuse me? Have you read Wikipedia:Ignore all rules? The concept is to stop once you've been caught doing something wrong. --Connel MacKenzie T C 22:20, 18 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

RFV

[edit]

Hi: I noticed that you are copying a bunch of entries onto the Request for Verification page. Are you making an effort to verify these yourself? The RFV page is for hard-to-verify terms only. One of the entries you added actually has its own website listed in it--meaning it's certainly legitimate. Please make an effort to verify them. If you don't intend to do so, then simply leave the entry as it is to allow other editors to look at it. If you find proof of an entry's existence, then mention it on its page, and refrain from positng it at WT:RFV. Thanks. --Primetime 21:56, 18 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Being helpful

[edit]

Hello again,

I'd like to see you become a respected contributor here. I think you could benefit Wikipedia and Wiktionary at the same time. But "dumping" here from Wikipedia just isn't helpful.

Please look at this edit for some formatting hints. This is more in line with how we do things here. Best of all would be to resume using the Transwiki: process from Wikipedia, instead. The way you copied entries over has not respected attribution from the Wikipedia contributors.

Please feel free to ask questions; I hope you will find this community quite responsive.
