Saterland Frisian[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Uncertain. Possibly from Middle Low German vent (boy, lad, servant), from Old Saxon fendio (foot-soldier). If so, then cognate with Middle High German vent (boy, lad, foot-soldier, pawn), West Frisian feint (servant, boyfriend), Dutch vent (guy, bloke, fellow).

Pronunciation[edit]
