Ancistrum[edit]

The protist Ancistrum is the type genus of the family Ancistridae. But the meaning of Ancistrum is not clear. I believe it derives from the ancient Greek ἀγκιστρεύω / ankistrévo, “fish hook”. Do you have another opinion on the matter?
