Etymology[edit]

Perhaps from Ancient Greek Ἀρφαξάδ (Arphaxád), from Biblical Hebrew אַרְפַּכְשַׁד (ʾArpaḵšaḏ, name of one of Shem's children), in which case it would be a doublet of Arpacsad.
