Recorded in English since 1830–40; from Dharug badang.

bettong (plural bettongs)
- Any of the marsupial genera Bettongia and Aepyprymnus; closely related to kangaroos.
- Bettongs rather resemble rats, having short noses, short, rounded ears, long hind feet and a naked muzzle tip.
