Etymology[edit]
Borrowed from English Bible, French Bible, German Bibel, Italian Bibbia, Russian би́блия (bíblija), Spanish Biblia. Decision no. 1241, Progreso VII. The form without -i- was chosen to differentiate the word from other Greek derived words like biblioteko where biblio doesn’t relate to the Bible.
