Etymology[edit]

From Bunyamwera, a town in Western Uganda where one of the viruses was first isolated.

  1. (archaic) Any of the Bunyaviridae, a family of negative-stranded RNA viruses, now most typically in genus Orthobunyavirus in family Peribunyaviridae, but also in all families in order Bunyavirales.
