From Proto-Albanian *tˢapa, from Scythian *čapi (compare Ossetian цӕу (cæw)), from Turkic *čepiš (half-yearling kid) (whence Persian چپش (čapiš, yearling kid), Azeri çəpiş). Lent Romanian țap. Doublet of sqap, with initial s- identical to Germanic (see sheep).
