Particularly: “This word is quite consistently written with characters with (MC yejH) as phonetic, even in Phật thuyết, and the Mường Bi cognate also shows palatal initial. If this is actually from Proto-Vietic *-daːlʔ, there should be a dental/alveolar stop popping up somewhere.”
