Representing a combining form of Ancient Greek κλέπτης (thief), κλέπτω (steal), from Proto-Indo-European *(s)klep- (to steal). Cognate with Gothic 𐌷𐌻𐌹𐍆𐌰𐌽 (hlifan, to steal), Gothic 𐌷𐌻𐌹𐍆𐍄𐌿𐍃 (hliftus, thief).
