- (transitive, intransitive, governs the accusative) to hang up
- Ég tók upp símann, sagði „ég er á leiðinni“ og laggði svo á.
- I picked up the phone and said "I'm on my way" and then hung up.
Usage notes
[edit]- The verb skella á has a harsher and more of a negative connotation (akin to slamming the phone down) than the verb leggja á which has a softer meaning (akin to laying the phone down).
