minicircle (plural minicircles)

  1. (genetics) One of the forms of circular DNA in a kinetoplast (the other being maxicircles). They produce gRNA (guide RNA) to decode the encrypted information in the maxicircles, typically through the insertion or deletion of uridine residues.
