  • Though in English museography and museology are often used as synonyms, in Spanish museología (cognate with museology) refers to the study of museums and their impact in society and to the conservation and cataloging techniques employed at museums, whereas museografía (cognate with museography), refers specifically to the techniques and practices that have to do with the operation and upkeep of a museum.
