  1. (uncountable, organic chemistry, biochemistry) An aromatically substituted aliphatic amine, C6H5C2H4NH2, which is a neurotransmitter in the brain; it has pharmacological properties similar to amphetamine.
  2. (countable, organic chemistry) Any of a group of compounds derived from that amine.
