Cognate with Kazakh бит (bit) (biyt), Karakalpak biyt (“louse”), Nogai [script needed] (biyt), Western Yugur [script needed] (bışt), Chuvash пыйтă (pyjtă). From earlier *biyt. Same phonetic change is seen in Salar işd.
