- The stands grow on typical and homogenous soils for each species: oak stands grow on pseudogley soils composed of loamy sands and sandy clays, beech stands grow on acid, brown soils of weakly loamy sand and sandy loam, whereas alder stands grow on peat soils of fen peat bogs and peat-muck soils.
