Etymology[edit]

Borrowed from a Slavic language, ultimately from Proto-Slavic *posъlъ, from *sъlъ (messenger). Compare Proto-Slavic *sъlati (to send).[1] Dizdari suggests a borrowing from Turkish pusula.
