Etymology[edit]

From Proto-Mon-Khmer *raaŋʔ (light, to shine); cognate with Khasi rang (fine weather), Khmu rʔaːŋ, Bahnar rang (light) and Khmer ស្រាង (sraang, to glimmer). Shorto (2006) connected this terms to sáng.
