Etymology[edit]

Borrowed from Gujarati સર્વોદય (sarvodya, progress of all), from Sanskrit सर्व (sarva) + उदय (udaya). Coined by Mahatma Gandhi in his Gujarati translation of John Ruskin's Unto This Last.
