Albanian[edit]

Etymology[edit]

From Proto-Albanian *śur-(nā), from Proto-Indo-European *seHur (to piss, make water). Cognate to Ancient Greek οὐρέω (ouréō, to piss) and Hittite [Term?] (/sēẖur/, urine). The hardening of the inlaut may have expressive reasons.[1] A further connection to Proto-Germanic *sūraz (sour) and Lithuanian súras (salty) is also possible.
