Finnish[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Noun[edit]

sisarukset

  1. siblings, sisters and brothers (collective term for people who are each other's sisters and brothers)
    Kaikki sisarukset ovat tänään paikalla.
All the sisters and brothers are present today.

Declension[edit]

Usage notes[edit]

This term is used only of family, i.e. not of sisters and brothers through a sisterhood or brotherhood, in which case the correct term is sisaret (plural of sisar - sister) ja (and) veljet (plural of veli - brother).
