Etymology[edit]
From French cyanure, from Ancient Greek κυάνεος (kuáneos, “dark blue”), from Ancient Greek κῠ́ᾰνος (kúanos, “dark-blue enamel”), probably from Hittite [script needed] (kuwannan-, “precious stone, copper, blue”), of unknown origin; doublet of kiyanus and siyanojen.
