Borrowed from Javanese ꦠꦤ꧀ꦠꦿꦶ (tantri), from Old Javanese tantri, from Sanskrit तन्त्र (tantra, a class of works teaching magical and mystical formularies). Compare to English tantra. Doublet of tentara and tenteram.
