  • In the 17th and 18th centuries, wire drawing was made by travelling craftsmen, sometimes gypsies. Swedish laws from the time against vagrancy state that wire drawers as well as travelling acrobats and comedians should be taken to prison: "At löst folk i gemen, samt Judar, Trådragare, Häcktmakare, Lindansare och flere sådane Gycklare, warder härmed strängeligen förbudit, at fara omkring landet".[1]
