vibs pl (plural only)

  1. (climbing, slang, rare) Shoes with rubber outsoles made by the Vibram company.
    • 1964, Modern Mountaineering, page 58:
      On iced rocks, hard-frozen scree, or ledges of wet earth or vegetation, Vibs are treacherous.
    • 1970, Climber and Rambler, volume 9, page 67:
      The other school of thought (the majority) will wear crampons in vibs — short points flex less — and vibs give better foot insulation than nailed boots.
