Etymology

Inherited from Byzantine Greek λογαριασμός (logariasmós, calculation), from the aorist stem λογαριασ- of the verb λογαριάζω (logariázo) + -μός (-mós), the verb from Ancient Greek λογάριον (logárion) + -ᾰ́ζω (-ázō), from the neuter diminutive of masculine λόγος (lógos, word, reason, explanation).[1]
