[edit]Learned borrowing from New Latin telescopium, from Ancient Greek τηλεσκόπος (tēleskópos, “far-seeing”) + -ιον (-ion), from τηλε- (tēle-, “far”) + σκοπέω, σκοπῶ (skopéō, skopô, “to look”).[1]
