Etymology[edit]
"Old covenant," "ancient covenant," from عَهْد (ʕahd, “covenant”) and قَدِيم (qadīm, “old, ancient”), calqued from Ancient Greek παλαιὰ (palaià) διαθήκη (diathḗkē).
