Borrowed from Arabic خَيْمَة (ḵayma, tent), probably through Persian خیمه (xeyme).

Noun[edit]

خیمه (hayme) (plural خیام (hiyam))

  1. tent, a portable lodge made of skin or canvas used for sheltering people
    Synonyms: اوتاق (otağ), چادر (çadır), چرگه (çerge)
  2. awning, or any other rooflike cover made of canvas mounted on a litter
