Etymology[edit]
Inherited from Old Marathi टाकणे (ṭākaṇe), from Proto-Indo-Aryan *ṭakk-. Turner suggests a relation to Marathi टिकणे (ṭikṇe, “to remain, last, persist”) from *ṭikk-.
