Inherited from Ashokan Prakrit *𑀥𑀩𑁆𑀩 (*dhabba). Cognate to Punjabi ਧੱਬਾ (dhabbā), Gujarati ધાબું (dhābũ), Nepali धब्बो (dhabbo).
