ボトルシップ (botoru shippu): a ship in a bottle.

Etymology[edit]

Wasei eigo (和製英語; pseudo-anglicism), derived from bottle +‎ ship,[1][2] apparently as a pseudo-translation of English ship in a bottle. Possibly influenced by German Buddelschiff (literally bottle ship).
